Apartment description
The apartment ‘Arcada’ is located in the Porxos d’en Xifré, a beautiful monumental building which is 200 years old. It is a row of houses whose base is made up of a series of 21 arches forming an arcade. When entering the apartment, you will be surprised by the contrast, because although the building is old, the apartment has been recently restored. The decoration of the apartment is a mix of modern and old-fashion. The beautiful shapes of the arcs of the building return in here. The arched brickwork around the windows, the wooden shutters and beautiful beech wooden floor in combination with the modern, white furniture are very beautiful. The cherry colours, used for the sofa, the double bed and a glass bowl, give the apartment a homely effect.
The living room contains a sofa, different coffee tables, two lounge chairs, a television and a DVD-player. There are two windows that both open to a pretty balcony with a great view over the street beneath. Furthermore, the dining suite has a designer table which can seat up to four persons.
The kitchen is directly accessible from the living room and contains high-tech equipment like a rustproof steel sink and extractor hood, it has a marble surface and 2 hot plates, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, oven, toaster, juicer, kettle, coffee machine, dishwasher and washing machine.
The main bedroom can be accessed by a sliding door. It contains a double bed, a wardrobe and beautiful wooden doors that give access to a separate balcony. The second bedroom contains two individual beds. This room overlooks the beautiful boulevard through the arched windows.
The bathroom is surprisingly spacious and has modern features like a glass sink and rustproof steel amenities, like a drying frame. It contains a toilet and a shower.
Area description
The apartment is situated in the area Barceloneta. From the apartment, it is only 2 minutes walking to the Barceloneta beach. The combination of the little Spanish streets and the many terraces, cocktail bars, shops and chirinquitos, make it a very desirable district for tourists. Within 2 minutes walking you see the beautiful old station of Barcelona, ’Estacio de França’, with the famous departure hall. It is close to the largest park of Barcelona, the Ciutadella Park, which is an oasis of peace in the middle of the city. It contains gardens and fountains that are partly designed by Antonio Gaudi, some playgrounds for children and there are different things to see like museums and the Ciutadella Zoo.
The Barceloneta area goes from Passeig de Colom to differents harbours like port vell to beaches like Sant Sebastià and Barceloneta. Around the corner is the area called 'El Ribera' or 'El Born'.
