Just 25 kilometers away from Lisbon, is the bading place Cascais, with his beautiful beaches. In the 19th century the royal family of Portugal builded an house in Cascais, where they stayed in the summer for many years. From the centre of Lisbon there is riding a train to Cascais, which only costs a couple of euro’s. In the morning taking a breakfast in your own apartment and in the afternoon enjoying the beautiful beaches of Cascais. Within a half an hour you arrive at Cascais by train. It is a fantastic ride right next to seashore of the Costa de Estoril. You could also do this trip by bike, by hiring one.
From your apartment a daytrip to Sintra
We can also recommend a daytrip to Sintra, a village close to Lisbon that is listed on the World Heritage list of Unesco. From Lisbon it is possible to get different trains to Sintra. The third picture shows the Palácio da Pena of the Castelo da Pena, constructed like typical Portuguese architecture from 1839. It stands on the rocks and it has a beautiful view.
